Instructions:
This is made with boxed macaroni and cheese but uses no fresh milk or butter. Only shelf stable ingredients.
On stove top, in a stockpot, bring water to boil noodles to a rolling boil.
As water is heating, open box of macaroni mix. Remove the cheese powder packet from box and set aside.
In separate bowl, combine milk powder, water for milk powder, butter powder, and water for butter powder. This should form a watery paste.
Add cheese packet from macaroni box to the milk and butter mixture. Stir well so there are no clumps.
Once water is boiling, pour in macaroni noodles into boiling water. Let boil for 10-15 minutes.
When noodles are soft, turn off stove top.
Pour noodles and water into a colander in the sink to drain the water. Do not rinse with cold water. Keep noodles hot.
Pour the cooked noodles from strainer back into pot. Do not turn stove burner back on.
Add cheese, butter, milk mixture to soft cooked noodles and stir well.
When all the noodles are equally coated with delicious cheesy goodness, serve macaroni and cheese while still warm.
Top with salt and pepper to taste.
